#PsyToday: Adventures in Rockefeller Plaza

The man of the hour, PSY !

So today I got the privilege of seeing PSY, the South Korean sensation, perform live in Rockefeller Center.

If you look carefully, Im riiight to the left of the dancer in white

He was in a word, AMAZING: so good in fact, that NBC for the first time allowed him to perform an encore presentation.

Me ‘dressed classy’ in a blazer and sequin bra to amplify my ‘silly’ dancing!

No artist, including Lady Gaga, Beyonce, or anyone else has ever been granted such an opportunity. This meant that when the main crowd scampered off to go home, us hopefuls got a chance to see him up close.

I was also interviewed with Toronto-based model Holly Wolf right after by a camera crew with the label ‘MBC’ (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation, I assume) which is rumored to be producing a documentary on Psy 🙂

Maybe I’ll be in it!!!

Fashion’s Night Out

So some may have heard about a “little get-together” in New York City known as Fashion’s Night Out. It’s a smattering of parties for fashionable individuals who want to meet and greet the hottest new names as well as the quintessential ‘who’s whos’ of the fashion industry. In line with this up-beat event I will be attending one such event tomorrow night from 6-8 pm hosted by PlumAlley.co as a member of the social media team.

Unwanted Visitor Mishap

So I should have expected that at some point during my lovely stay in New York, that I would come face to face with a few ugly mugs. I’ve seen rats in the subways at night, I’ve sat next to smelly people on the subway, and I’ve even encountered a handful of unpleasant cat-calls…all with some respectable level of grace. However I do have one kryptonite: when I’m tired, I don’t really handle bugs well, much less cockroaches.

When I rolled in from Electric Zoo on Saturday at a staggering 3 AM, this hideous thing greeted me by jumping out from under the shower curtain, scurrying into the vanity mirror, and scuffling around the sink.

I should be noted that I was at Electric Zoo from 11 PM until close, had probably lost 10 pounds of water from dancing and screaming like a crazed fangirl, and had only had some meatballs and a hummus sandwich. My reaction to the hideous little nasty was probably more comical that effective: I sprayed at it with bathroom cleaner, yelped when it charged at me from the sink, and tried to swing at it with my face towel (not a brilliant idea in retrospect). Too exhausted to deal with it, I ended up chasing it with a plunger in the bathtub and hissing at it. I decided it would be smart to document its existence just in case, and snapped a picture of it before capturing it under the plunger. After I’d finally gotten something to eat, I managed to hit it with end of my loofah stick and promptly threw it in the garbage before taking a much-needed shower, hissing at it again, and going to sleep.

Electric Zoo 2012 Recap

Greetings from the mass of 100,000 in attendance at Electric Zoo 2012 this year!

Hey all! Apologies for the delay on posts! I was working extra-hard to bring you a video montage recap of Electric Zoo 2012! Check out the images and video below for the full experience. For reference, I was roughly 20 feet from stage!! Footage includes Tiesto, Skrillex, Bingo Players, W&W, Dev, and Sander Van Doorn (also pardon how shaky it was, the crowd was pretty excited). For full streaming of most of the sets, check out enkay’s collection of EZoo streams!

Concert Review: Idle Warship

Hey, so apologies in advance, there will be no Viral Monday or Uncommon Verbiage this week. I know you’re probably heartbroken, but we’re going to get through this together.

Update: The surprise guest was Ryan Leslie! I couldn’t hear when they called his name (probs had already blown my eardrums by then) so Talib Kweli was awesome and told me on Twitter!

But on a more exciting note, I saw Idle Warship last night at the Highline Ballroom and fell back in love with them again (or rather, renewed my music dork vows).

All images / video were taken on my handy-dandy Motorola Droid Razrmaxx

Upcoming Misadventures

Hey all!

I figured I’d give you a quick informal weekend update on what to expect next!

As you might have noticed, I added some music to the blog…mainly because I’ve become a bit obsessed with Timeflies ever since I saw them at Princeton Lawnparties (it will make you wish you had tigerblood)

I will be releasing some new Uncommon Verbiage tonight or tomorrow (I’m trying to pick out the perfect one given that its concert season) as well as doing some research for Viral Monday (Ermagerd seemed to be quite popular).

What else can you look forward to?

Well, I have quite a crazy lineup of concerts coming up. Monday I will be seeing beloved band Idle Warship perform with my besties from college that got me hooked,

and then, I will be attended Saturday and Sunday of unofficial raver’s paradise, Electric Zoo. I would explain more about it, like before, except I feel like the promos speak for themselves:

From there, I am still taking suggestions!

So stay tuned, and get hyped!

Make Love and Run The World

It should surprise no one that I’ve finally gotten around to this post. When I interned with Jumpthru.net last winter, I heard in passing that a certain someone on Twitter was notorious for ‘blowing shit up’ It wasn’t long before I began following this incredible woman and came across her two incredible startups: Make Love Not Porn and If We Ran The World.
